23 May MOWA Client Says Dedicated Volunteer ‘Saved My Life’
Every Saturday, Brandon Tavenner delivers meals to Vine City for Meals On Wheels Atlanta. He knows the clients well, so when he arrived at the home of a fourteen-year meal delivery client on Saturday, April 29, he knew something was off the second she opened the door. Knowing she suffers from complications with her kidneys, he feared she may be going into kidney failure. When she told him that she felt like she was having a heart attack, he knew he had to act fast.
Brandon immediately helped the client into his car and drove her to the hospital, where he stayed by her side for the rest of the day. When we reached out to the client regarding the incident, she said gratefully, “that boy saved my life.”
The client is now at home recovering. Her doctors say that she will be fine thanks to the swift action taken by Brandon. We at MOWA are truly honored to have Brandon on our team, and thank him for representing MOWA in such an outstanding way. He has undoubtedly fulfilled our mission of supporting senior independence through meals, shelter, education and community.
