Home Repair Services

Through our Home Repair Services program, we work to ensure our senior clients’ homes are safe, warm and dry. Our skilled technicians complete repair and maintenance tasks on both the interior and exterior of homes, with the goal of allowing senior homeowners to maintain their independence and continue living at home as they age.

In all cases a potential client must submit an application for services and meet underwriting requirements including: age, income, residency, home ownership and proof of homeowners insurance. In all cases the client must own and occupy the premises as their primary residence. No repairs will be made to rental properties.

How We Can Help

Home Repair Services focuses primarily on minor repairs to areas occupied and utilized by the senior so that each senior has safe and usable access to spaces such as the bathroom, kitchen, living and sleeping areas.

Typical projects include installing ADA compliant toilets, replacing faucets, replacing light fixtures and installing grab bars. Larger projects are also done for clients eligible for additional grants.

Why it Matters

Home repair is essential to homeowners as it prevents seniors from being displaced from their homes
and being forced into transitional housing or shelters because of code violations.

It also helps to protect families’ financial investments.  Communally, home repair revitalizes neighborhoods
and inspires neighborhood inhabitants to reinvest within their communities.

FAQ

What type of services does your program offer?

  • The HRS department focuses primarily on minor repairs which may include repairs such as (partial list): installing ADA compliant toilets, replacing faucets, replacing light fixtures and installing grab bars.
  • Approved repairs are focused on the living area occupied and utilized by the senior client with the goal that each senior has safe and usable access to bathroom, kitchen, living and sleeping areas. Thus, in most cases if a client has more than one bathroom, repairs will only be made to the primary bathroom used by the senior client and multiple toilets, faucets, etc. will not be provided.
  • On occasion, and depending on funding availability and funder underwriting guidelines, the HRS may complete more moderate or major repairs on a case-by-case basis under our Military Veteran program and City of Atlanta programs.
