  • What type of services does your program offer?
    • The HRS department focuses primarily on minor repairs which may include repairs such as (partial list): installing ADA compliant toilets, replacing faucets, replacing light fixtures and installing grab bars.
    • Approved repairs are focused on the living area occupied and utilized by the senior client with the goal that each senior has safe and usable access to bathroom, kitchen, living and sleeping areas. Thus, in most cases if a client has more than one bathroom, repairs will only be made to the primary bathroom used by the senior client and multiple toilets, faucets, etc. will not be provided.
    • On occasion, and depending on funding availability and funder underwriting guidelines, the HRS may complete more moderate or major repairs on a case-by-case basis under our Military Veteran program and City of Atlanta programs.
  • Is there anything MOWA Home Repair does NOT work on?
    • Yes. Cosmetic, repairs made to renovate the property, or repairs to the portion of the home that may be occupied by other family members are ineligible through this program. As well the HRS department does not currently provide the following repairs (partial list): roofing, painting, foundation work, major structural repairs, appliance repair, window, ramps, replacement / repair or maintenance of outbuildings, garages or carports, repairs to fences, floor coverings or the cutting of trees.
    • It is important to note that as funding sources and funder guidelines change the repair list and service availability is subject to change.
    • No repairs will be made to rental properties.
    • Meals on Wheels Atlanta reserves the right to disallow other projects costs deemed nonessential to furthering the purpose of the project.
  • What is the status of my application? Where am I on the list?
    • After submitting all required documentation client will be placed on a waitlist which may take a year or more to come off of. To check the status of your application please call: 404-351-3889 ext. 245.
  • How long does it take to receive services?.
    • Depending on the extent of the waiting list clients may have to wait a year or more to receive service.
  • What are the requirements to receive home repairs?
    • You must be 50, 55 or 62 or older depending on the program
    • The home must be an owner-occupied, single-family house, and is your primary residence.
    • The home must be located within Fulton County, Atlanta City, or be a Military Veteran with a DD 214 form
    • You must have homeowner's insurance and keep the property insured against loss or damage.
    • The necessary repairs must fit within the scope of service offered by MOWA.
    • You must meet income guidelines which vary depending on the program.
  • Do I qualify for the Meals program?

  • What if I don’t have homeowners insurance?
    • Homeowners insurance is required. However, applicant can still submit an application and will be placed as pending until homeowners insurance is obtained.
  • Can I apply for assistance more than once?
    • Once service is received clients are not eligible to apply for additional services for 3 years after receiving initial service
  • Are there home repairs in other counties outside of Fulton?
    • Yes, for qualified veterans and City of Atlanta (Dekalb County) residents. Please call to see if you qualify.
  • Is there a fee for repairs?
    • No.
  • What if I’m disabled but not the age, to qualify for the program?
    • At this time MOWA only works with seniors but please see resources list.
  • Do you offer emergency services?
    • No. However, MOWA prioritizes clients with emergency needs for heating, water, and electricity.
  • Do you offer yard work other than one time per service?
    • No.
